Religious Education for Special People Encountering Christ Together

R. E. S. P. E. C. T. is a special religious program designed for the mentally challenged Christian. It is taught under the instruction of the ROSE FITZGERALD KENNEDY PROGRAM TO IMPROVE CATHOLIC RELIGIOUS EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH MENTAL CHALLENGES.

Do you have a child or family member with a learning disability?
Here at St. Bernard’s Parish we have a Special Religious Education Program that helps mentally challenged people learn about their faith in God and in His Church. Know that we can help prepare this child or adult for the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation.

Have you had your child Baptized and have never put your child in Religious Education Classes, knowing they could not keep up?
Is your child a slow reader or doesn’t read or write?
Has your child been diagnosed with ADD or ADHD
Is your child a delayed learner or has some form of a mental disability?
Have you simply felt that you would just leave your child in God’s hands, feeling they were unable to make the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist, or Confirmation?

Has it been your desire to have your child or family member continue to make their Sacraments and share their faith in God with other children of similar abilities?

Lessons cover the major aspects of the Roman Catholic faith such as knowledge of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The students will learn about the Sacraments of initiation. They will learn about the life of Christ, the Blessed Mother, the beliefs of the Catholic Church, the Ten Commandments, The Beatitudes, and living a Christian life. They will be introduced the heroes of the Catholic Church, the Saints, and will be taught the prayers that are familiar to all Catholics. The lessons are written developmentally so that concepts are built one upon the other.
By our Baptism, all Catholics are equal in dignity In the sight of God and have the same divine calling. it is our responsibility to bring all God’s children into the full community of His Church.

Aquí en la Parroquia de San Bernardo tenemos un programa de Educación Religiosa que ayuda a personas con retos mentales a aprender sobre su fe en Dios y Su Iglesia. Sepan que podemos ayudar a su hijo/a o ser querido a prepararse a recibir los Sacramentos de Bautismo, Reconciliación, Eucaristía y Confirmación.

¿Tiene a un niño/a que ha sido bautizado/a pero aun no ha empezado el programa de Educación Religiosa, porque usted sabe que no podrían continuar con el grupo?
¿Es tu hijo/a un estudiante que tiene dificultad con la lectura, o simplemente no puede leer ni escribir?
¿Ha sido diagnosticado su hijo/a con ADD o ADHD?
¿Es su hijo/a un estudiante con dificultades de aprendizaje o tiene algún tipo de deshabilitad mental?
¿Has simplemente dejado en las manos de Dios a tu hijo/a, sintiéndote que el/ella no son capaces de recibir los Sacramentos de Bautismo, Reconciliación, Eucaristía y Confirmación.

¿Ha sido tu deseo que tu hijo/a o miembro de familia continué recibiendo sus sacramentos y comparta su fe en Dios junto con otros niños con habilidades similares?

Las lecciones cubren los aspectos principales de la Fe Católica Romana tal como el conocimiento de Dios nuestro Padre, Dios Hijo, y Dios el Espíritu Santo. Los estudiantes aprenderán sobre los Sacramentos de Iniciación. Ellos aprenderán sobre la vida de Cristo, la Santísima Madre, las creencias de la Iglesia Católica, los Diez Mandamientos, Las Beatitudes, y sobre vivir la vida Cristiana. Les serán introducidos los héroes de la Iglesia Católica, los Santos, y se les enseñaran las oraciones que son familiares a todo Católico. Las lecciones están escritas de tal forma que los conceptos se construyen el uno sobre el otro. Por nuestro Bautismo, todos los Católicos somos iguales en dignidad a la vista de Dios y tenemos el mismo llamado divino. Es nuestra responsabilidad traer a los hijos de Dios en comunidad completa de Su Iglesia.
