What is it? It is the largest apostolic organization of lay people in the Catholic Church with over 5 million active members and 20 million praying (auxiliary) members. This apostolate was brought to the USA in 1931. It began in Ireland by Frank Duff, Servant of God. It has been endorsed by the last 6 Popes.
What does it do? It sanctifies its members through a well balanced program of prayer & service in union with the Holy Spirit through Mary. Works include door to door evangelization, Parish visitation projects, youth work, & all the other spiritual needs of the parish & the community.
How does it work? The active members meet once a week for prayer, planning, & Discussion. Reports are given. The legionaries do 2 hours of definite work each week under the guidance of a Spiritual Director.
Who Can belong? Any practicing Catholic, 18 yrs. or older. You are given 12 weeks to discern whether your family obligations & career blend with the tried & proven system of the Legion. Everyone is welcome to give it a try. What you will need is a willingness to sacrifice a little time & energy for the greatest reason in the world: your love for God & Mother Mary.
How do I start? Come to our first meeting on
August 20 th, 9:30-11:00am in Ministry Center, Rm. 3. All the weekly meetings will be on Mondays. Bring a friend. If you are a former active member or an auxiliary member, please come & rejoin.
Future Plans...God willing, we will be able to have more than one praesidium and the long awaited Junior Praesidium (children doing Legion of Mary works).
We welcome all of you!
God bless you & your families.
