Please be aware that weekends are NOT available for house blessings due to Masses, Confesisons, Baptisms, Quinceañeras, and Weddings.
Please try to book your House Blessing during a weekday.
To have a house/home blessed is a wonderful thing. A family asks for God’s blessings upon their domicile. And the Church has arranged a short ceremony for this occasion. Since the blessing of the house is an outward expression of what has happened within each person of the family at their blessing (Baptism - God coming to dwell within) it takes on a festive character. St. Bernard’s Church will be happy to arrange a blessing of your home.
To have one’s home blessed, one must be a registered member of St. Bernard’s. The parents and/or couple or anyone else living in a relationship in that house, have to be MARRIED IN THE CHURCH. If God is not part of a couple’s relationship, the blessings of a home would be contrary to the Catholic Faith - it would be a superstitious act only. (to be married by a judge only, or to be married in Reno/Tahoe/... is not a marriage made before God!) How can one expect God’s blessings on one’s house, if one does not carry God within one’s own soul?
“Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city,
the watchmen stand guard in vain.
In vain you rise early and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat-
for he grants sleep to those he loves.”
(Psalm 127)
